Girl’s Trip to Budapest, Hungary

Posted on

Happy Friday! We had such a fabulous time in Budapest, I love that city!  Debbie, Elin, Wyler and I took the train to Budapest really early in the morning and arrived at about 10:30am. We checked into the hotel and headed straight out to see the city. Booking hotels online can be hit-or-miss, but we totally lucked out with our room at The Fraser Residence. We got a 2-bedroom apartment suite with a huge balcony and breakfast buffet for 130 euro. It was such a deal and it was really hard to leave the next morning! The one thing Debbie and I wanted to do the most was spend a little time (and money) at the Great Market Hall. It was amazing! We both spent a little too much on souvenirs, gifts, and foods like cheese, sausage, wine, sweets and candies. Afterwards, we headed down to the Donau River and Debbie took photos while I fed and changed Elin. We had dinner at a restaurant Eric and I had eaten at last year called Paprika. I had the beef goulash and spaetzle, Debbie had sliced beef Hungarian-style with homemade potato chips, and Elin had more milk! We took the metro back to our fab hotel room and crashed. The next morning we slept in a little before enjoying the breakfast downstairs, it was wonderful and I had too many espressos! We had to check out at noon and catch our train to Vienna at 1:10pm so we didn’t do too much Thursday morning except visit a few craft stores and do a little bit of sightseeing before heading to the train station. It was a fun little girls trip (plus Wyler) and we are now back in Vienna looking forward to Eric’s return from Saudi Arabia this afternoon! Tonight we are making homemade pizza: one meat lovers and one fig, goat cheese and prosciutto. I can’t wait! I hope you all have a great weekend and I will see you back here on Monday! xo
