Elin’s 2 Year Portrait {Complete}

Posted on

Sharing Elin’s completed 2 year portrait today. It’s so fun to see her first year and second year portraits side by side. I can see how I have improved and the likeness is definitely better this year. Portraits are seriously fun, but incredibly challenging. I have yet to complete a decent self-portrait, notoriously the most difficult challenge for any given artist. Might have to give it a go in the next few months.

First up, however, is a commissioned painting for the hubs. I shared an IG of the photograph he has asked me to paint shortly before I went on maternity leave. If you don’t follow along, it’s a photo of an elderly Mexican man sitting on a stone wall amongst bright, little buildings. Eric took the photo in Mexico a million years ago when he was netting bats in the name of science. I plan to get started on this painting tonight, and will possibly have a WIP image to share on Monday. Have a great weekend!!!

    This is beautiful!!!! Your skills have improved a ton. The 2nd year picture is so much more dramatic and clearer. Of course though, your first year picture is very beautiful and it is so neat to look at both and totally see the same person even though Elin has changed a bit. The eyes and the mouth are what I see. Anyway, Happy Friday and I look forward to seeing the picture for Eric. It is a really neat picture with major color which I like! 🙂

      Thank you! Lol the clarity has more to do with the focus on my DSLR rather than the skill! But yes, the newest one is def better 🙂
